Meryl Streep and Robert Redford didn’t attend the American Museum of Moving Images tribute to Tom Cruise this past week even though they’re starring Lions for Lambs together because apparently they can’t stand him. According to a source that spoke to Fox News, Cruise was really pushy during interviews and Streep and Redford basically had to treat Cruise like a impetuous five-year-old.

MANILA, Philippines - Beyoncé Knowles arrived here on a chartered plane from Shanghai, China early at 2:05 PM today. The singer waved to waiting media upon disembarking from her jet and was flanked by guards who led straight to a waiting vehicle. Knowles is here for one-night show tomorrow in Taguig City.

Iwa Moto is happy that her StarStruck batchmate Jackie Rice has decided to revive her showbiz career. "Good!" she exclaimed when PEP caught up with her backstage at SOP last Sunday, October 28.
Iwa and Jackie both gained popularity when they joined GMA-7's talent-search reality show, StarStruck, during its 2005-2006 season. Jackie eventually won the top prize while Iwa was named the first-runner up. Fame and projects quickly followed for both Jackie and Iwa. But while the two neophytes were enjoying their newfound popularity, they were also caught off-guard by the responsibilities expected of them as public figures.
Iwa and Jackie were hounded by intrigues, often related to their alleged insubordinate attitude towards work and towards their co-workers. Much has been said about their reported notorious partying and its effect on their personal and professional lives. As it turned out, the rumors did have a grain of truth. Their home network frequently meted out suspensions and other forms of disciplinary action to rein them in.
Iwa apparently managed to outgrow her rebellious phase and stick to showbiz. In contrast, the sweet-looking Jackie disappeared from show business for several months. But last October 20, Jackie appeared in Startalk and announced her willingness to stage a comeback. During the interview, Jackie became emotional and attributed her long absence to the intolerable pressure of being a celebrity.
Iwa clearly sympathizes with Jackie. Being a newcomer herself, she fully understands the back-breaking demands of the business. She also knows that to survive, one should muster enough strength to survive the punches. "I wish her all the best," Iwa said endearingly.

R&B Princess Kyla has encountered a lot of scary stories, all worthy to be told. But one particular experience stood out among the lot. She was 12 years old then and was attending the Christmas party of her dad's office.
Donna Cruz's "Rain" was the current hot single at the time and Kyla was wholeheartedly singing it when something unusual happened. The electric fan at the rear suddenly tuned on by itself. Someone went in and shut it off but it turned back on again.
Kyla suspected that something weird was going on. She happened to look towards a row of stainless steel filing cabinets. And spotted a faceless girl in the dark. Despite the limited lighting, Kyla clearly caught sight of the unexpected "faceless" guest.
Although she got scared, she continued singing and just went near her dad. Kyla jokingly rationalized that perhaps, and subconsciously, the chilling experience was an early training for professionalism. As the popular saying goes, "The show must go on."

Reese Witherspoon refuses to let her children watch her movies.
The Oscar-winning actress thinks eight-year-old Ava and three-year-old Deacon, her children with ex-husband Ryan Phillippe, would find it "strange" seeing their mother on screen. Witherspoon revealed Ava loves visiting her mother on set because she gets pampered.
The 31-year-old beauty added she has no plans to move out of Los Angeles because it suits her perfectly as a single, working mother.

In what is likely a first for TV, Tyra Banks on Monday will devote her entire hour-long talk show to discussing the vagina.
"I have wanted to do this show for two years," says Banks, 33. "I know for a lot of women talking about what is going on in our bodies is extremely difficult, but it is incredibly important. We should be able to talk to our daughters, sisters, mothers and friends about our bodies and not be embarrassed. I hope after this show women will not be ashamed about what's up down there."
Banks gives her audience an anatomy quiz, welcomes two gynecologist to the show, and shows a segment in which she takes a 28-year-old Plano, Texas, woman to her very first gynecological appointment – all in an effort to educate women about what can be an uncomfortable topic.

Opting for a trip to Japan with her family instead of a grand debut when she finally turns 18 on November 6, Shaina Magdayao says she is just being practical.
“You know how much parents spend for their debuting daughters just for one night so I thought it wise to just spend my birthday with my family on vacation in Japan. I’ve always been fascinated with Japan, the people, their being polite and respectful, the cleanliness, the technology, the culture, their fashion, everything!” she explains.
Shaina started as a child star, following the footsteps of her older sister Vina who was already being groomed as the next Sharon Cuneta by the late Mina Aragon when she was still around 7 years old.
She first appeared in the daily drama Marinella, where she acted with Camille Prats. Her rise was slow but carefully planned. Because most of the directors like her unassuming ways and uncomplicated personality, she was constantly assigned good project.
After her birthday celebration in Japan, Shaina has her hands full as she has to help start promoting her two movies for the coming Metro Manila Film festival. Asked if turning 18 means that she will have the freedom to have a boyfriend, Shaina quickly retorts, “I believe falling in love happens at the right time and it should happen because of the right reasons. If ever it comes, I think I’ll be ready.”
