Entertainer Robert Goulet dies at 73

LOS ANGELES, California (AP) -- Robert Goulet, the handsome, big-voiced baritone whose Broadway debut in "Camelot" launched an award-winning stage and recording career, has died at the age of 73.
He had been awaiting a lung transplant at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles after being found last month to have a rare form of pulmonary fibrosis. Goulet had remained in good spirits even as he waited for the transplant, said Vera Goulet, his wife of 25 years.

Hayden Panettiere Not Playing Wendy Williams

In an earlier post, it was reported here by way of Celebrity Gossip that the Heroes star will be playing the legendary Miz Wendy O. Williams, the former Plasmatics frontwoman who committed suicide in ‘98.

However Perezhilton.com has refuted this, citing Hayden’s publicist, Michelle Bega. According to Bega,"T he reports of Hayden Panettiere portraying Wendy O. Williams are inaccurate and nothing more than rumor."

So there.

Michael Jackson to File for Bankruptcy?

Sam Milby to Lolit Solis: Retract or I will sue

Sam Milby is threatening to sue talent manager and entertainment columnist Lolit Solis unless she retracts her Pilipino Star Ngayon story in which she claimed she saw Milby and Piolo Pascual at the Sofitel Hotel "being sweet to each other, exchanging whispers with their cheeks nearly touching."

Solis said that she only saw the two actors--hounded by persistent rumors that they are lovers--by "accident' after she got lost in the hotel on the way to another meeting.

Milby however categorically stated over ABS-CBN's "The Buzz" on Sunday that Solis' story is a complete fabrication and threatened to sue her unless she publishes a retraction and makes a public apology. Milby claimed he was elsewhere shooting a movie at that time.

Halle Berry's Racist Joke

In Halle Berry's guesting on Jay Leno's Tonight show, she made an anti-semitic remark over the size of Jewish people’s noses. She was showing Leno computer-distorted images of herself when she introduced the first one by saying, "Here’s where I look like my Jewish cousin!" It was a picture of her with a huge, distorted nose. No one laughed, and Jay nervously said, "I’m glad you said that and not me." When the show aired, they cut out her Jewish comment and added a laugh track to the bit.

Watch the clip, and you can clearly see Halle's mouth saying the word "Jewish" even though there is no audio.

Haughty Manny Pacquiao?

Yesterday morning while I was doing my exercise, I was tuned in to the radio program of Korina Sanchez and Ted Failon on DZMM TeleRadyo.

One of their topics was about People’s champ Manny Pacquiao. In Korina Sanchez's commentary, a lady reporter was requested by Manny Pacquiao’s camp to be terminated from her work. The reason was for releasing a survey during the last campaign period where the result was his opponent General Santos Rep. Darlene Custodio was leading.

If this is true, what happened to the kind-hearted and humble Manny Pacquiao? Has fame and money corrupted his old good self?

Aside from this issue, he snubbed Manila Mayor Alfredo Lim in his welcome parade in Manila. Snubbing the Manila Mayor is like snubbing the people of Manila. If he is politicking, it’s a bad step that he committed. He should have at least the courtesy to the Mayor.

No wonder you lost in the past election. Wake up Manny Pacquiao!

Other sites have identified the lady reporter to be no other than Korina Sanchez. Manny reportedly went straight to ABS-CBN head honcho Lopez to demand her termination. He was simply ignored. So it was no surprise he went with Solar Sports' and GMA's offer to televise his latest match after having been with ABS-CBN for a long time. The rumored P80 million package deal might have helped him decide as well.

Incidentally that telecast turned off and tuned out a lot of would-be viewers with excessive commercials. GMA reportedly conveniently back out of the industry organization KBP so as not to be restricted by the imposed maximum number of commercials. So the telecast turned out to be a telecast of commercials interspersed with 3 minutes of evasive boxing every now and then.

More significantly with his snub of the Manila parade, Manny did not only snubbed Mayor Lim but snubbed the entire people of Manila. Manny is an adopted son of Manila, with his adoption decreed by then Mayor Atienza, a bitter rival of Mayor Lim. Lim reclaimed his old position by routing Mayor Atienza's son Ali in the last election.

Reese Witherspoon Files for Divorce

Reese Witherspoon has filed for divorce from Ryan Phillippe, citing irreconcilable differences. Papers were filed Wednesday in Los Angeles Superior Court. Witherspoon, 30, is asking for joint custody of the couple's two children, Ava, 7, and Deacon, 3. The actress also seeks physical custody of her kids and that Phillippe, 32, be granted visitation rights. She also requested that the court not grant spousal support for Phillippe.

The pop superstar's deal to abandon Warner Music shows how far Live Nation is willing to go to break the hammerlock Barry Diller's Ticketmaster has on online concert and sporting ticket sales.

Ticket buyers may be annoyed by the $5 or more in convenience and delivery fees tacked on to every ticket ordered online or over the phone, but they've proven to be a gold mine for Ticketmaster.

Regulatory filings show that Ticketmaster's revenues jumped 14% to $1.1 billion in 2006 and generated almost a 25% operating profit margin.

Live Nation, whose 160 venues include House of Blues and Fillmore locations, Nikon at Jones Beach in New York and London's Wembley Arena, currently is Ticketmaster's largest single generator of ticketing fees. But Live Nation has signaled it wants to bring the fee revenue in-house when its Ticketmaster contract expires in 2008 for most of its locations and in 2009 at the House of Blues venues.

Tiger Woods' caddie Steve Williams gives NZ$1M to children's hospital

WELLINGTON, New Zealand -- Tiger Woods' caddie Steve Williams has given more than NZ$1 million to a New Zealand children's hospital. The donation will help fund Auckland's Starship Hospital's rebuilding and expansion of its oncology and hematology wards.

The contribution was made through the Steve Williams Foundation, set up in 2001, which has traditionally supported junior golf and motor racing projects. Williams has been caddie to Woods, the world golf No.1, since 1999, and is one of the highest-earning New Zealand sportsmen. He is also a New Zealand speedway motor racing champion. (AP)

Kiefer Sutherland pleads no contest to DUI charge

Actor Kiefer Sutherland pleaded no contest Tuesday to a misdemeanor drunk driving charge stemming from his arrest two weeks ago in West Los Angeles.

Sutherland, who plays counter-terrorism agent Jack Bauer on the popular Fox TV show "24," was scheduled to be sentenced Dec. 21 in Los Angeles County Superior Court.

The Los Angeles city attorney's office, as part of a plea deal with Sutherland, recommended that he be sentenced to 48 days in jail. The sentence would reflect 30 days for the misdemeanor charge and 18 days for violating probation on a separate 2004 DUI case. But Sutherland could be sentenced to as much as a year if the judge who took over the case Tuesday, Stuart M. Rice, rejects the plea deal.

Kristine Hermosa still in shock after accident

Kristine Hermosa remained in shock Monday, a day after figuring in a traffic accident that killed a 16-year-old boy in Maragondon, Cavite.

Hermosa had just come from a taping when her vehicle, a Hyundai SUV, collided with a motorcycle that had cut into their lane in an attempt to overtake their vehicle.

Killed in the accident was JR Davis while his girlfriend, Maricel de Guzman, had fractures on both feet. She is currently recuperating in a hospital in Naic, Cavite.

The incident happened before 2 p.m. along Governor's Drive in Garita Village, Maragondon. Hermosa's driver, Francisco Manarang Jr., was immediately arrested by the police and detained at the Maragondon police station.

A 16-year old boy died and his companion was hospitalized after figuring in an accident with the vehicle of Kristine Hermosa. The fatality identified only as Junior died on the spot while his companion Maricel de Guzman, 18, was rushed to the Naic Hospital.

The incident happened 1:35 p.m. Sunday on Governor’s Drive in Garita B village, Maragondon, Cavite, based on the information given by Senior Superintendent Fidel Posadas, head of the Cavite Provincial Police Office.

Posadas said Hermosa was on board her 2007 Hyundai SUV Santa Fe(ZKU-327) driven by Francisco Manarang Jr, 32, when the vehicle hit the Honda motorcycle of the two victims.

Posadas said Junior was driving the Honda but doubted that the latter has a license being a minor.

According to Sam Lufti, Britney Spear's friend who is best known for getting into a physical altercation while getting served in Spears’ custody fight, Spears checked into Beverly Hills’ Peninsula Hotel after dropping off her boys with Kevin Federline, going tanning and stopping by the DMV. Spears remains optimistic about regaining custody of the boys soon.

A source close to Britney Spears says her optimism comes from the fact the Monday decision to give K-Fed custody was merely the result of scheduling conflicts that kept Spears from showing up for court-mandated drug testing.

But another friend has a different story about the 25-year-old slow moving train wreck pop-star’s mindset, saying, “She’s so scared. For Britney, [losing Sean and Jayden] was her realest moment ever… She doesn’t know what to do. She is going hit an all time low.”

Why Britney Spears Lost Custody

Britney lost custody because she ignored L.A. County Commissioner Scott Gordon at every turn. Starting from last month, when the commissioner ordered her to do a number of things in order to maintain 50/50 custody, she didn't do any of them.

Spears was ordered to meet with a drug counselor, submit to drug testing, enroll in parenting class, and sign the judge's order - all of which she didn't do.

So the commissioner prohibited both Spears and her husband from driving their children unless they had a valid California driver's license. Gordon was pissed today when TMZ posted a video of Spears driving her kids around Malibu.

Britney Spears' Sad Saga Continues With Judge's Child-Custody Order

It's been motherhood under a microscope for Britney Spears, who lost custody of her two children, 2-year-old Sean Preston and 1-year-old Jayden James, on Monday when a judge ordered the singer to turn over her children to ex-husband Kevin Federline until further notice, effective Wednesday.

From day one, Spears has faced scorn and scrutiny for her choice of a husband but strangely, Federline's image has now improved relative to hers. Even if Britney hasn't cracked under the pressure, the judge in her custody case isn't taking any chances when it comes to her young brood.
